PI Fiscal Agent

A Windows program that fiscalises directly from your point of sale, online or offline.

1. What this app is

The PI Fiscal Agent is a small program you install on a Windows computer at your point of sale. It holds your till's fiscal identity, signs each sale, manages the fiscal day, and sends documents to ZIMRA. It works even when the internet is unreliable — sales are queued and sent when the connection returns.

Use it when you want fiscalisation to run on the till itself rather than only in the web portal.

2. Before you start

  • A Windows 10 or 11 computer at the till.
  • A PI Fiscal account, and an enrolment code from the portal (Devices → the device → Pair agent).
  • Internet access for the first pairing (afterwards it can work through short outages).

3. Installing the agent

  1. Download the installer from the portal or the link support sent you.
  2. Run it. If Windows asks for permission, allow it.
  3. Follow the prompts and finish. The agent opens with a pairing screen.

4. Pairing the agent to your account

  1. In the portal, open Devices, choose the till, and copy the enrolment code.
  2. In the agent, paste the code and click Pair.
  3. The agent creates the device certificate and stores your credentials encrypted on the computer. When it shows 'Paired', you are ready.

5. Setting an administrator PIN

The PIN protects settings so a cashier cannot change fiscal configuration by mistake.

  1. Open Settings → Security and choose Set PIN.
  2. Enter a PIN that is not obvious (avoid 0000 or 1234 — these are rejected).
  3. Keep the PIN safe. You will need it to change settings later.

6. Opening the fiscal day

  1. On the agent's main screen, click Open day.
  2. The status shows 'Day open'. You can now fiscalise sales.

7. Fiscalising a sale

  1. Enter or import the sale (buyer if it is a business, then the line items with their tax classes).
  2. Click Fiscalise. The agent signs the document and sends it to ZIMRA.
  3. It shows the fiscal number and QR code and prints the slip through the virtual printer, or produces an A4 PDF.

If the internet is down at that moment, the sale is signed and queued; it sends itself as soon as the connection is back, keeping its original number.

8. Closing the day

At the end of trading click Close day. This creates the Z-report and sends the day's totals to ZIMRA. Do this daily.

9. Keeping the agent up to date

The agent updates itself automatically with signed releases, so the ZIMRA rules and document format stay current. Leave it connected occasionally so it can update. You can check the version under Settings → About.

10. Troubleshooting

  • 'Device not registered' — pairing did not finish; re-pair with a fresh enrolment code from the portal.
  • Sales stuck in the queue — the internet is down or ZIMRA is unreachable; they send automatically when the link returns. Do not re-enter the sale.
  • Sequence or signature error — the agent re-aligns and resubmits the pending document automatically; if it persists, raise a ticket with the device ID and time.
  • Forgot the PIN — contact support to reset it.
