How do I connect QuickBooks (Online and Desktop)?
Online connects with a secure authorisation and webhook; Desktop connects through the Web Connector file.
Both editions of QuickBooks can fiscalise automatically — the setup differs because Online is cloud and Desktop is on your machine.
QuickBooks Online
- In the portal open Integrations → QuickBooks Online and click Connect.
- Approve access to your QuickBooks company.
- Map your QBO tax codes to ZIMRA tax classes once.
- Create an invoice in QuickBooks — it fiscalises automatically via the webhook.
QuickBooks Desktop
- Open Integrations → QuickBooks Desktop and download the
.qwcfile. - In QuickBooks, open the Web Connector and Add an Application, selecting the
.qwc. - Paste the connector password shown in the portal.
- Set the auto-run interval; the connector then polls for new invoices and fiscalises them.
Good to know
- Make sure your QuickBooks items carry an HS code (or map a default) so lines pass validation.
- Keep the machine running QuickBooks Desktop online so the Web Connector can reach PI Fiscal.
